Solar Panel Yachts

Solar panels are devices that are used to harness the energy from the sunlight. Calculations show that on a bright sunny day, the sun emits about one kilowatt of energy to one square meter of the earth’s surface.

Solar power generation however has not been cost effective as compared to the conventional energy sources. But recently a lot of research and development is being undertaken to fins ways to make the solar power more viable by many government and non-government agencies, corporations and even many educational institutes.

Solar panels are photovoltaic (PV) arrays, wherein photo refers to light and voltaic refers to electricity. Solar panels should have as much surface area as possible pointing towards the sun. Solar cells in the PV panels convert light into electricity by absorbing the energy of the sun. Crystalline silicon and gallium arsenide are the best choices of materials for solar cells.

These solar panels or photo voltaic arrays are available in forms such as solar hot water panels for providing hot water and solar photovoltaic panels for generating electricity. Large arrays are capable of generating power to be supplied to some isolated areas where electricity cannot be supplied. Solar panels yachts are a good utilization of the solar energy and are also environment friendly thus making them a good option.

People particularly power boaters are always looking for new ways to power essential electronic, and appliances. Marine solar panels afford the boat owner this luxury as well as being a very quiet running system.

Solar electrical systems are ideal for marine use in that the system is scalable dependent upon power needs. The systems can be made small enough for a 21 foot ketch or can be scaled large enough to take care of the essential power needs for the privately owned mega yacht.

Solar panels yachts, uses solar energy and is an attractive environment friendly alternative for sailors.
